Nearly every golf course and municipality have man-made ponds that can become stagnant and overwhelmed with algae. This imbalance often ruins the natural habitat, killing fish and creating the perfect breeding ground for mosquitos. Historically, a stagnant pond needed costly dredging or treatment with environmentally-unfriendly chemicals to remediate the problem. Today, the industry looks to more progressive and safer alternatives by aerating the water, using the products such as PondHawk®.

The patented PondHawk uses solar power to pump much-needed oxygen into the water, helping to create a more healthy and sustainable ecosystem. The PondHawk approach uses no chemicals, makes no noise and is completely off grid, powered only by solar.

“It is our honor to have PondHawk tending the ponds at Army Navy Country Club in cooperation with Genesis Turfgrass.” said Sandra Burton, President and Co-Founder, LINNE Industries. “LINNE Industries respects the club’s military culture and heritage and we are grateful for support from Bob Wilber, Superintendent at Army Navy Country Club and his team for embracing our PondHawk solution on this historic golf course.”

Founded in November 1924 as the Army Navy and Marine Corps Country Club, the Army Navy Country Club broke ground on the site of historic Fort Richardson in August 1927. Commanding the highest ground of all the forts on the Virginia side of Washington, DC, only fragments of Fort Richardson remain flanking the Red 9 green. On over 500 acres of rolling and wooded landscape in Arlington, Virginia, the 54 championship golf holes have hosted members that have included Major General John A. Lejeune, USMC; Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, USN; General Omar Bradley, USA; and Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, and William J. Clinton.
