Water Quality Shouldn't be Ignored: Its Significance is Vital.
Derrick Wozniak, superintendent at Radley Run CC in West Chester, Pa., faced a challenging situation with the management of the club’s irrigation pond. The 3.6-acre pond, located in a valley surrounded by woods, was prone to significant algae bloom and emitted a strong smell following a rain event or high relative humidity due to minimal air movement.
Members often complained about the pond’s smell, creating a stinky situation for Wozniak and the maintenance team.
However, after a presentation from PondHawk and the pond’s location, Radley Run installed three solar panels with six diffusers, leading to healthier water conditions, improving the health and aesthetics of the ecosystem within the pond.
Wozniak says the irrigation pond is the club’s lifeblood, and the PondHawk system continually feeds the course with water free from impurities, which is vital for soil and plant health. Despite routine maintenance requirements, the PondHawk system’s best part is that since its installation in 2018, there haven’t been any complaints about the pond’s smell.
